A month of steady training...

Produces awesome results!

Hey guys, sorry I've been away for a whole month. I know I told myself I would try to update this blog once a week, but sometimes life gets in the way of that. Between work, taking classes and training almost everyday, sometimes it's hard to do the little things.

Anyways, I've been studying, reading and exercising as much as possible. I have my 11 General Orders down cold and I'm getting there with the Rates and Ranks. The hardest part is actually memorizing the descriptions of the embroidery for all of them. I've also been doing the practice exercises in the Coast Guard Boot Camp Survival Guide so I feel like I'm pretty ready to pass the main timed objective exercise when we get to Cape May. Also feeling pretty good about being able to maintain my military bearing. The tips and practice exercises in the Survival Guide have helped me a lot with that too.

In terms of my workouts, I've been following the Coast Guard Boot Camp fitness success program that the guy gives you when you buy the Coast Guard Boot Camp Survival Guide and it's been working very well. I can do slightly more than the minimum for all the PFT requirements, but I want to keep training so I can do a lot more than the minimum. I haven't tested myself on the swim yet but I think I'll be fine.

How's everyone else out there training for Coast Guard Boot Camp doing?

I Decided to Buy The Coast Guard Boot Camp Survival Guide

Okay you guys. After doing some more research on it today I decided to take the plunge and I bought the Coast Guard Boot Camp Survival Guide. I think it will be money worth spent. I read almost all the articles on the guy's site and spent some additional time researching the links he has on the USCG Boot Camp Resources Page and it's already helped me a lot.

Now all I have to do is figure out what my starting physical fitness level is so that I can get my free 8 week workout plan from him and then I'm good to go. I'll keep you all posted as I start reading the book and get going on my workout plan.

I'm excited though! I wanna rock it at Coast Guard Boot Camp and earn an award of some sort at graduation so we'll see.

What's everyone else doing to get ready?

My Coast Guard Boot Camp Preparation Diary

Hey Guys!

So I'm starting this blog in an effort to document my preparation for Coast Guard Boot Camp and to hopefully connect with people that are doing the same. I'm going to share what I'm doing for my workouts and also any interesting links I come across that I find helpful.

I'm a little bit nervous and excited at the same time. I know Coast Guard Boot Camp is supposed to be tough as nails so we'll see how well I prepare for it.

So far I found this website and it has a ton of great information on it. The guy that runs it just recently went to Coast Guard Boot Camp himself so the information is very fresh. He's also selling a book that he wrote called the Coast Guard Boot Camp Survival Guide and giving away customized workout plans based on your starting fitness level (it says on the site that he's a personal trainer). Sounds like a pretty damn good deal and I'm thinking about getting it. I'll keep you guys posted if I do and let you know if it's worth it.

Oh and if anyone has already bought it and is reading this, would you mind commenting and telling me if it's worth the money?

Thanks!
